Telford to get stunning new gateway

Visitors arriving at Telford Shopping Centre by train are set to be welcomed by a striking new £7million footbridge, creating an impressive introduction to the town.

Inspiring designs revealed by Telford & Wrekin Council this week reflect the town’s bold and ambitious character, and will transform access to the centre from Telford Central station.

The bridge is just the latest in a series of exciting major investments to create a vibrant and welcoming Telford town centre.

The glass-sided footbridge will form the perfect gateway to Telford Shopping Centre, which is undergoing its own multi-million pound redevelopment to add more shops and restaurants.

The plans for the bridge, which is currently set to open in 2018, include a lift for passengers with pushchairs or wheelchairs and replaces the existing red bridge over the A442 and Rampart Way.

The Council is currently asking for the public’s views on the bridge – for more details see here: http://www.telford.gov.uk/news/article/3403/public_engagement_sessions_on_footbridge_design
